These design tips explain how subtle washes of colour and comforting textures bring a sense of calm throughout the seasons.
Keep it simple. Create a calmness and simplicity by keeping the colour palette clean and clear. The key is layering cream and white, then adding pinks and metallics to add interest. I always like a sense of calm in a bedroom and this colour theme creates the mood.
Mix your textures. Combining materials and tones adds a sense of warmth. On rugs, cushions and throw, pairs linens with luxurious texures such as wool and faux fure. Keep accessories simple to settle the aesthetic and find the right balane between too many and not enough – it’s always good to start with a number of items and the pare them back.
Make it trans-seasonal. The bedroom can be the perfect year-round room – cool and relaxing in summer but easy to warm up in winter. This is as simple as adding wintry essentials – such as woollen cushions and throws – in warmer textures and richer tones like deep chocolate browns.
